Affiliate Member Boards Guidelines

April 4, 2007

The Property Loss Research Bureau is composed of two membership levels. The subscriber members are property and casualty insurance companies writing business in the United States and the affiliate members are companies, organizations, and individuals who provide goods and services to insurers.

PLRB has a history of cooperation with those eligible to be affiliate members. They have presented at our Claims Conference, Regional Adjusters Conferences, Large Loss Conference, displayed at the Insurance Services Expos, and sponsored special events and projects, such as the PLRB Distance Learning Program.

The PLRB has also included affiliate members on its Claims Conference Committee to provide advice and counsel on programming and curricula development for the Claims Conference.

The Affiliate Advisory Board (AAB) was formed in April 2004 to provide an avenue for providing advice and suggestions to PLRB regarding products, services, and programming. As this committee system evolved, it has gravitated to expo and sponsorship opportunities and marketing. These guidelines are revised in recognition of this committee evolution.

The purpose of the Affiliate Advisory Board (AAB) is to:

Affiliate Member Services - provide advice and counsel to the PLRB staff to help identify issues of interest and services available to the affiliate members.

Conferences - provide advice and counsel to the PLRB staff to help identify issues for possible inclusion in the annual Claims Conference Committee Planning Meeting Agenda.

The AAB members will be selected by the PLRB President.

The members will have volunteered as presenters at either/or the Claims Conference, the Regional Adjusters Conferences, or the Large Loss Conference.

The members will have served a three-year term on the Claims Conference Committee.

The members will serve a three-year term on the AAB. A member may serve more than one term.

The PLRB President may appoint members to a one-year term, as needed.

The AAB will be structured with the goal of representation of various categories of affiliate membership, such as engineers, independent adjusters, restoration contractors, defense attorneys, etc.

The above are policy guidelines only. Exceptions to these Affiliate Advisory Board Guidelines will be implemented as deemed appropriate by the President.

Regional Affiliate Board

The purpose of the three Regional Affiliate Boards (RAB) is to provide advice and counsel to the PLRB in the following ways:

Regional Adjusters Conferences - They will assist staff in the planning, promotion, and operation of its three Regional Adjuster Conference Insurance Services Expos and associated sponsorship programs. The members will help promote the conferences, provide advice and recommendations on the design and delivery of the three Insurance Services Expos, and provide advice and recommendations on the development of sponsorship programs for the three regional conferences.

Large Loss Conference - They will assist staff with advice and recommendations regarding sponsorship opportunities that will be developed in connection with the conference. They will also assist with promotion of the conference.

The RAB members will be selected by the PLRB President.

An affiliate member representative on the RAB will commit to a three-year term. A member may serve more than one term.

The RAB will be structured with the goal of representation of various categories of affiliate membership, such as engineers, independent adjusters, restoration contractors, defense attorneys, and so on.
