Existing Buildings

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

Delete: Section R309.5 Fire Sprinklers. Mission, KS Muni. Code § 500.043.

Section R313.2 of the 2012 International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings is hereby amended to read as follows: R313.2 One- and two-family dwellings automatic fire systems. An automatic residential fire sprinkler system may be installed in one- and two-family dwellings.

Exception. An automatic residential fire sprinkler system shall not be required for additions or alterations to existing buildings that are not already provided with an automatic residential sprinkler system.  Mission, KS Muni. Code § 500.045.
