Comments

Lenexa, KS has adopted the 2018 IRC including appendices C, G, H, K, P and Q. Lenexa, KS Muni. Code § 4-8-C-1.

Section R313 of the International Residential Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

R313.1 Townhouse Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems: An approved automatic fire sprinkler system in accordance with the International Building Code as adopted and amended by the City of Lenexa shall be installed in new townhouses consisting of three or more connected dwellings.

Exception: An automatic fire sprinkler system shall not be required where additions or alterations are made to existing townhouses that do not have an automatic residential fire sprinkler system installed. Lenexa, KS Muni. Code § 4-8-C-9.

Section 903.1 of the International Building Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

[F] 903.1 General. Automatic sprinkler systems shall comply with this section.

[F] 903.1.1 Alternative protection. Alternative automatic fire-extinguishing systems complying with Section 904 shall be permitted in addition to an automatic sprinkler protection where recognized by the applicable standard and approved by the fire chief. Lenexa, KS Muni. Code § 4-8-A-14.
