PLRB/LIRB and the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC) are jointly hosting the second in a series of free webinar lectures featuring nationally recognized FDCC lawyers who will address current property claim challenges and issues across the nation.
This series is geared for senior claims managers of staff and independent adjusters, corporate and defense counsel, senior technical claims specialists, etc. There is no charge to participate in these webinars.

"Post-Meltdown Property Insurance Claims by Financial Institutions"
Our webinar lecture broadcast will take place on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern); 12:00 p.m. (Central); 11:00 a.m. (Rocky Mountain); and 10:00 a.m. (Pacific). Each webinar broadcast will last approximately 75 minutes and include critical discussion, audience questions, and comments.
Presenter Biography:
Andrew B. Downs is a shareholder in the firm of Bullivant Houser Bailey PC, primarily resident in its San Francisco office who also practices in Bullivant’s Las Vegas office. Admitted in both California and Nevada, Mr. Downs’ practice focuses on the defense of complex coverage and bad faith litigation, including class actions and multi-district litigation. Mr. Downs recently concluded the defense of a $100,000,000 plus series of actions which included over 15 state court actions in multiple states and multiple federal actions, as well as multiple bankruptcies.
Learning Objectives Include:
- Review what the mortgage clause does and does not do.
- Analyze claims by multiple lenders on a single insured property.
- Learn how to respond when the FDIC is involved or the policyholder or lender is bankrupt.
- Identify the differences between recovery following payment on a mortgage clause and traditional subrogation
