Mock Examination Under Oath: Theft Loss

The examination under oath is an effective tool available to adjuster when seeking information while investigating a property or casualty insurance claim. It is sometimes used to clarify the facts in a theft claim.

"Mock Examination Under Oath: Theft Loss" is one of the professional development sessions offered at the Property & Liability Resource Bureau's 2016 Claims Conference, April 17 to 20, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. Registration is open to property and casualty insurance professionals who work for insurance companies.

The educational session will be presented by James H. Cole, JD, Marshall Dennehey Warner et a; of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Adam Featherling, CFE, CIFI, AVP SIU & Vendor Management, Kemper Corporation, Dallas, Texas, Douglas Osborne, CFE, CIFI, SIU Manager, Olympia, Washington, and Jennie Philip, JD, Marshall Dennehey, Warner et al, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

At its conclusion, Claims Conference attendees who attended will be able to:

  • Identify red flags in the presentation of contents loss from the initial claim presentation to the disposition of the claim;
  • Review tools to identify coverage concerns in a large loss claim; and
  • Describe how the initial claims handling activities can play a role at the EUO and ultimate disposition of the claim. .

The PLRB Claims Conference will offer 100 property and casualty claims topics for the continued professional development of claims adjusters. Many of the educational sessions will be approved for adjuster continuing education credit.

As part of the Claims Conference, the 2016 Insurance Services Expo will be held Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Nearly 300 exhibitors will be there with products and services to assist insurers in providing claims services to policyholders.

The Expo showcases skilled national and regional providers of property and casualty adjustment and restoration services, such as investigation services. Attendees are invited to enjoy a complimentary lunch in the Expo hall on both Monday and Tuesday of the Conference. They will have an opportunity to enhance their professional development by connecting with a large network of subject matter experts and industry partners during the lunch break.
