Post-Subrogation Recovery Challenges & Pitfalls

One of 100 Educational Sessions
2016 Claims Conference
April 17 - 20, 2016

Subrogation is an important element of the claims process. Recovery of damages by the insurer from the responsible parties is a challenging procedure and has its share of pitfalls.

"Post-subrogation Recovery Challenges & Pitfalls" is one of the professional development sessions offered at the Property & Liability Resource Bureau's 2016 Claims Conference, April 17 to 20, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. Registration is open to property and casualty insurance professionals who work for insurance companies.

The educational session will be presented by Lindsay Dansdill, JD, Attorney, Grotefeld Hoffman, Chicago, Illinois, and Maura Droney, Property Subrogation Specialist, Hartford Insurance Group, Hartford, Connecticut.

At its conclusion, Claims Conference attendees who attended will be able to:

  • Review the carrier's exposure for breach of extra-contractual duties in a variety of scenarios;
  • Describe various deductible recovery practices, including first money rule or the deductible reimbursement rule;
  • Highlight trends from the 50-state survey of the made-whole doctrine; and
  • Evaluate strategies to communicate recovery procedures with interested parties.

The PLRB Claims Conference will offer 100 property and casualty claims topics for the continued professional development of claims adjusters. Many of the educational sessions will be approved for adjuster continuing education credit.

As part of the Claims Conference, the 2016 Insurance Services Expo will be held Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Nearly 300 exhibitors will be there with products and services to assist insurers in providing claims services to policyholders.

The Expo showcases skilled national and regional providers of property and casualty adjustment and restoration services, such as claims management software. Attendees are invited to enjoy a complimentary lunch in the Expo hall on both Monday and Tuesday of the Conference. They will have an opportunity to enhance their professional development by connecting with a large network of subject matter experts and industry partners during the lunch break.
