Employee Theft/Employee Dishonesty

One of 100+ Educational Sessions
2016 Claims Conference
April 17 - 20, 2016

Investigating and adjusting a commercial fidelity claim for employee theft or employee dishonesty requires the adjuster to engage the parties with competence, patience and diplomacy. Emotions are often high and the risk can be potentially catastrophic to the business.

"Employee Theft/Employee Dishonesty" is one of the professional development sessions offered at the Property and Liability Resource Bureau's 2016 Claims Conference, April 17 to 20, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. Registration is open to property and casualty insurance professionals who work for or represent insurance companies.

The educational session will be presented by Ronald Mund, consultant, SDC CPAs, LLC, Aurora, Illinois, D. M. Studler, CPA, Founding and Managing Member, SDC CPAs, and Regina Tobias, CFE, Property Adjuster II, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Indianapolis, Indiana.

At its conclusion, Claims Conference attendees who attended will be able to:

  • Identify unique concerns and procedures when adjusting a Commercial Fidelity claim;
  • Outline claim investigation procedures including properly obtaining a Proof of Loss and utilizing a time line of events;
  • Evaluate issues, including who is an employee, inventory shortages, limits of liability, and indirect loss; and
  • Review strategies for release and assignment, subrogation, and underwriting concerns.

The PLRB Claims Conference will offer over 100 property and casualty claims topics for the continued professional development of claims adjusters. Many of the educational sessions will be approved for adjuster continuing education credit.

As part of the Claims Conference, the 2016 Insurance Services Expo will be held Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Over 300 exhibitors will be there with products and services to assist insurers in providing claims services to policyholders.

The Expo showcases skilled national and regional providers of casualty adjustment and restoration services, such as accident reconstruction. Attendees are invited to enjoy a complimentary lunch in the Expo hall on both Monday and Tuesday of the conference. They will have an opportunity to enhance their professional development by connecting with a large network of subject matter experts and industry partners during the lunch break.
