Bad Faith & Punitive Damages in Third-Party Claims

April 17 to 20 in San Antonio, Texas

The Casualty Campus of the PLRB 2016 Claims Conference features professional development for casualty adjusters with workshops facilitated by insurance professionals. Sessions available range from uninsured motorist claims to high exposure claims.

The PLRB 2016 Claims Conference will be held April 17 to 20 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio. Registration is open to property and casualty insurance professionals who work for or represent insurance companies.

One of the 26 casualty campus workshops available is "Bad Faith & Punitive Damages in Third-Party Claims," presented by Asim K. Desai, JD, Partner, Gordon & Rees, LLP of Los Angeles, California, and Kevin Willging, Executive Counsel, Travelers Companies, Hunt Valley, Maryland.

At the conclusion of the session, Claims Conference attendees who attended will be able to:

  • Spot warning signs of bad-faith exposure in third-party contexts;
  • Develop action plan to respond to and contain punitive damages claim in third-party bad faith context;
  • Review emerging bad-faith issues and trends in the third-party liability claims context, including discovery issues and bifurcation; and
  • Identify warning signs of bad-faith "set ups" by third parties.

The PLRB Claims Conference will offer over 100 property and casualty claims topics for the continued professional development of claims adjusters. Many of the workshops will be approved for adjuster continuing education credit.

The 2016 Insurance Services Expo will be held Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Over 300 exhibitors will be there with products and services to assist insurers in providing claims services to policyholders.

The Expo showcases skilled national and regional providers of casualty adjustment and restoration services, such as accident reconstruction. Attendees are invited to enjoy a complimentary lunch in the Expo hall on both Monday and Tuesday of the conference. They will have an opportunity to enhance their professional development by connecting with a large network of subject matter experts and industry partners during the lunch break.
