Adjusters will be able to continue their professional development at the upcoming PLRB Western Regional Adjusters Conference June 21 & 22. This will be the first of three PLRB Regional Adjusters Conferences this year.
The Conference will open Tuesday, June 21, in the Hyatt Regency Sacramento with a keynote presentation "Development in a Changing Industry" by Tom Drewry, Director of Commercial Property Claims - West, Nationwide Insurance, and Curt Marchione, graduating senior, California State University, Sacramento.
Over the last 20 years the claims environment has moved from one of Polaroid one photos and pagers to digital photos, sophisticated estimating systems and drones. Development has moved from understanding policy terms and construction methods to developing skills in advanced computer programs, and using new technology to improve and expedite the claims process. As the workforce ages, new professionals entering the claims workforce come armed with advanced computer skills, but little or no real world knowledge. As the experienced workforce merges with the next generation, there is a tremendous opportunity to leverage development that will benefit both generations. The presentation will outline ways the attendees can leverage these relationships to improve themselves, as well as invest in the future of the property and casualty insurance industry.
Sessions will be offered in both the property and casualty lines of insurance. For example, "Art and Heirloom Claim Handling" is one of the many breakout sessions that will be available for property adjusters continuing education, while "Additional Insured Liability and Contractual Indemnity Coverage" will be available for casualty adjusters. General interest topics will also be available, such as " Customer Strategies for Success."
Adjuster continuing education credit will be available at no cost for adjusters licensed in California, Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The Western Regional Insurance Services Expo will be open both Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 22. Claims service providers from California, the western region, as well as nationally based companies will be in the Expo hall to tell attendees what's new to assist them in managing their claims files.
A complementary lunch will be served in the Expo hall both days.
