Water Mitigation: Complex Restoration Projects

"Hot Topics from the Claims Conference" PLRB Webinar Series

The first of the 2016 "Hot Topics from the Claims Conference" Webinar series is will be offered May 12. "Water Mitigation: Complex Restoration Projects" was selected following the 2016 Claims Conference in San Antonio, Texas, as one of the "Hot Topics" for the series, said Scott Powell, Vice President, Educational and Technical Services for the Property & Liability Resource Bureau.

Managing a complex loss is meant to establish control over restoration processes. In certain situations, this can be defined as providing a clerk of the works who oversees and documents the process. In other situations is can be more about managing the project.

The session, which will be available exclusively to employees of PLRB member insurers and Affiliate member companies Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. central time, will be presented by Dr. Daniel Bernazzani and Keith Grant. Dr. Bernazzani is Senior Vice President of the Environmental Services Division at YOUNG and Associates Keith is a National General Adjuster at AIG Insurance.

The Webinar will identify differences between "clerking" the loss and providing a "project manager." It will offer strategies and procedures to help an insurer determine which would be more appropriate during the restoration process. Participants will learn to:

  • Describe the latest trends in complex water damage scenarios:
  • Identify and address what occurs when a restoration process may be outside the scope of repairs;
  • Review industry guidelines for documentation; and
  • Describe industry formulas to determine initial equipment requirements.
